Balancing Act: For women in Pakistan particularly, balancing traditional roles with professional aspirations is a unique and often unseen challenge. This balancing act can be a struggle in itself.
Struggle Behind the Life: My Story, My Journey, My Strength (Behind the Veil)
Welcome to Learn With Maryam!
Today, I want to deviate slightly from my usual digital marketing and freelancing tips. Instead, I want to talk about something more personal, something that often remains hidden: the struggle behind the life we present.
When you look at someone's social media profile or see their success, it's easy to assume their life is effortless and perfect. But what we often miss is the journey that led them there. Success is not a destination; it's a series of battles fought behind closed doors, away from the spotlight.
The Hidden Battlefield
For many of us, the visible aspects of our lives—our careers, our smiling photos, our online presence—are just the tip of the iceberg. Beneath the surface lies a complex landscape of private struggles:
Self-Doubt: Am I good enough? Is my work valuable? This is a question many freelancers and entrepreneurs, including me, ask themselves constantly.
Late Nights: The early mornings and late nights spent learning new skills, managing clients, and pushing boundaries are rarely seen.
Failure and Rejection: Before the first "yes," there were countless "no's." Rejection from clients, failed projects, and experiments that didn't work are all part of the process.
Balancing Act: For women in Pakistan particularly, balancing traditional roles with professional aspirations is a unique and often unseen challenge. This balancing act can be a struggle in itself.
Behind the Veil: My Personal Struggle
I know this journey firsthand. My decision to build a career in digital marketing and freelancing wasn't born out of thin air. It came from a deep-seated desire to create my own path, despite the challenges that seemed insurmountable at times.
There were moments when I felt overwhelmed, when the technology felt too complex, and when the competition seemed fierce. There were times when the societal expectations clashing with my dreams made me question everything.
I choose to wear a niqab, and this choice is a deeply personal one. For me, it is a symbol of strength, identity, and a profound connection to my faith. It offers me comfort and a space of my own. My personal choice of the niqab represents the strength and determination it takes to build a career while remaining true to my identity. In a world that often wants to label us, holding onto who we are is its own form of resistance.
The niqab doesn't define my potential; it enhances my focus. It has become a part of my struggle and my victory.
Turning Struggle into Strength
So, how do we turn our struggles into strength? Here are a few things that have helped me:
Embrace the Process: Stop focusing solely on the destination. Learn to find value in the journey, the failures, and the small wins.
Find Your 'Why': Why did you start this? Your "why" must be strong enough to keep you going when the going gets tough.
Stay True to Yourself: Don't let external pressures dictate your path or your identity. Your unique perspective and choices are your greatest assets.
Keep Learning: The world is constantly changing, especially in digital marketing. Continuous learning is the key to overcoming obstacles and staying relevant.
A Message to You
To anyone reading this who is currently in the midst of a struggle: know that you are not alone. Your struggle doesn't make you weak; it makes you human. It is shaping you into a stronger, more resilient version of yourself.
Your path might not be visible to everyone, but it is real. Your effort, your tears, and your perseverance are not in vain.
Thank you for being part of Learn With Maryam. Let's keep learning, growing, and building our dreams together.
